Aquarius Compatibility with the Other Signs

Aquarius compatibility is a fascinating thing.  First of all you need to understand that Aquarius is ruled by the austere planet Saturn, so therefore Aquarius can be a little too serious at times.  Secondly being ruled by Saturn, a difficult planet, there is almost an expectation of, or predisposition to see things negatively including relationships. 

Aquarius values you for your relationship to the whole, how you fit in but at the same time are unique among all others.  They are fierce defenders of freedom and what benefits society overall, so they are more suited to see you as a “friend” than as an exclusive lover that they possess.  In fact if you can respect Aquarius’ love from freedom and independence and let them do their thing from time to time, they are going to be more inclined to stay with you.  Doing so you can be seen by an Aquarius as someone who “understands them”, and therefore to be valued. 

Aquarius’ weak point is his/her sense of being his/her own boss, if they feel even a little bit coerced or controlled by someone else (cramping their style), they can react sometimes by being even more out of the ordinary than usual.  This is the person you see from time to time who has a bizarre sense of fashion, or is a “rebel”, or a “rabble rouser”. 

Aquarius is in polarity with Leo and if they can avoid blaming each other for their troubles (be mature), they can have a very dynamic relationship.  Aquarius can help Leo to keep the Leo’s attention on other people, keeping them out of the “personality cult”; and it is Leo who can help Aquarius not lose himself/herself from the bigger picture of humanity. 

Traditionally Aquarius compatibility is with all the other air signs: Gemini and Libra; it has a good compatibility also with the fire signs: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius.  Aquarius however has a so-so relationship with Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn and Pisces; there is the potential for clear difficulties with Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio.
